Career Services provides San Diego State University Alumni with resources that support career development and success.

AVAILABLE SERVICES

Career Portal, Handshake

SDSU is part of the Handshake network. This system provides access to a network of job, internship, volunteer and community engagement opportunities. It also allows users to learn and register for upcoming events, and related employer services such as information sessions and scheduled interviews.

If you are a recent graduate, please note that your student account lasts up to 1 year after graduation before you will be required to request to change your Handshake into an alumni account.

If you have never had a Handshake account, or you need to create an alumni account after having a student account, please click here. Career Services representative will follow up with you soon - the approval process may take up to two weeks.

Career Counseling

SDSU Career Services offers appointments to support and guide alumni through a range of career topics. Alumni can schedule appointments online via Handshake, or by calling our office at (619) 594-6851.

Please note that SDSU Career Services is able to provide initial and general career guidance to mid-career and advanced career professionals. Alumni seeking services associated with career coaching and career transitions should expect to receive referrals to community resources and/or professional career services.

Career Fairs & Workshops

All career fairs and workshops offered by SDSU Career Services are free to alumni. You can register for these career events through the Handshake platform. See above for how to request a Handshake account.

Pursuing an Advanced Degree

Set up an appointment with a career counselor to discuss options for pursuing an advanced degree. Also, visit the Global Campus of San Diego State University for additional opportunities for individual and professional development.

Career Assessments

The Strong Interest Inventory is a career assessment that our center recommends for use by current students and alumni one to three years after graduation. 

Please note that a review of the results for the Strong Interest Inventory requires an appointment. To schedule an appointment, use Handshake.
