When Your Expenses Exceed the Award Amount

Your actual costs may vary from the standard Cost of Attendance depending upon your situation.

Certain expenses can be added to your cost of attendance resulting in an adjustment to your award (usually an increase to your student or parent loan), including:

• Childcare
• One time purchase of a computer per academic program
• Extraordinary medical expenses

Requesting an increase

To request an increase to your standard costs, complete a Student’s Request for a Budget Increase form.

• Note: An increase of Federal Direct Student Loan and/or Parent PLUS Loan eligibility is usually what is available when a request is approved. A request to increase a loan is limited to one per semester for each type of loan.
