MEXICALI & Tijuana GRADUATIONS
These ceremonies are dedicated to building bridges between the U.S.-México border by providing graduates whose immediate family members cannot cross the border to attend their sdsu commencement the opportunity to celebrate graduation with their loved ones in México.
Note: Participating in these graduations does not prevent or replace students’ ability to participate in their college’s primary May commencement ceremonies in SDSU-San Diego and SDSU-Imperial Valley.

FAQ
Q: Is this ceremony in Tijuana, Mexico the same as the SDSU San Diego Commencement?
A: The ceremony in Tijuana is a ceremony to celebrate the success of SDSU students
graduating and whose parents are not able to attend the commencement ceremony at the
San Diego Campus. The San Diego Campus, however, is a ceremony that includes conferral
of degrees. Graduate students will only be hooded at the San Diego commencement ceremonies.
Q: If I attend the ceremony in Tijuana, can I also attend the San Diego campus Commencement
ceremony?
A: Yes, you can attend both.
Q: How many guests can I attend?
A: We will be providing each graduating student with four (4) tickets. As the graduation
date approaches, we will make every effort to accommodate additional guests if other
graduating students are not using all four tickets.
Q: How will I know if there are any additional tickets available?
A: An email will be sent to participating students indicating day, time and location
to obtain (1) one additional ticket. This will be on a first come, first served basis.
Q: Is there parking available at UABC?
A: Yes, parking will be available. Please see the map and directions for detailed
information.
Q: Do I need to wear the SDSU Regalia (cap and gown)?
A: Yes, all participating graduates must be wearing SDSU’s regalia. Students can also
wear any stoles or cords provided by programs or other departments.
Q: Will babies need a ticket?
A: If it is a baby that will not be occupying a seat, they can attend without a ticket. But please make sure that they are in someone's lap so that they do not take the seat of another guest. We are at full capacity. Thank you for your understanding.

This historic ceremony was first implemented, in May 14, 2022, by the Cross-Cultural Center at SDSU- Imperial Valley at Casa de la Cultura (Histórica Escuela Cuauhtémoc) en Mexicali, Baja California, México; with the support of the SDSU Office of the President, the Office of HSI Affairs, International Affairs, Associated Students of SDSU Imperial Valley, Chicanex Sin fronteras of SDSU Imperial Valley, and the SDSU-IV Professional Skills Development Center.
